Give it Me – Song Sketch

Yeah that riff is good,
But the song don’t hit like it should.
Do you even know that’s true?
When no one listens, what you gonna do?

You can slap stuff against the wall.
See what sticks, see what falls.
All you got is a big mess on the floor,
And one lonely riff wanting so much more.

Ch.1
Give it thought, give it heart.
It’s where you’re spending your time.
Give it depth, give it breadth.
Why not guide spirits to the well?

Feel that line, play with time.
Doesn’t matter if it’s prose or if it’s rhyme.
Tax your brain, make it hurt.
The difference is a spark, or just more dirt.

Find that groove.
Will it make people move?
Stop, listen, feel.
Is it something you’d listen to?

Ch.2
Give it soul, give it groove.
It’s where you’re spending your time.
Give it tears, give it blood.
Make it sight for the blind.

It might drive hard.
It may hang low.
It could bite down,
to never let go.

It could lift you up,
And then crash you down.
It might melt your mind,
And make your tears flow.

Ch.3
Give it sweat, give it time.
It’s where you’re trading your love.
Give it you, give it all.
Make it light from above.

Bridge
And when you know,
there’ll be no doubt.
You’ll weep, you’ll laugh,
And twice you’ll shout:

Ch.4 (modulate up, several voices)
Give it me, give it me;
People will feel what I feel.
Give it all, have no doubt.
Raw and real is what life’s about.

Ch.5 (modulate up again, more voices)
Don’t hold back; shout out loud!
And weep sometimes, too.
I’ll make’em float on the clouds.
And help them sing the blues.

Out:
Don’t life change?
One day I’m bulletproof.
The next day I’m singing the blues.
Ain’t life strange?
I’ll hit the high notes,
Then cry till I fill up my shoes.
